Practical Notes

Best season: Westchester is excellent year-round. Summer brings beach access at Glen Island and Tibbetts Brook. Fall is the peak for farm visits and foliage. Winter pushes to indoor venues. Bowlero, the Puzzle Parlour, and the Alamo Drafthouse carry the season.

Getting there: Most Westchester destinations are accessible by Metro-North from Grand Central. Hudson Line for the river towns, Harlem Line for White Plains and inland towns, New Haven Line for the Sound-side towns. For grandparents driving from Connecticut, I-287 and the Merritt Parkway are the natural access routes.

Cost: The majority of parks in Westchester are free or low-cost. The most expensive experiences (Lyndhurst tours, Playland, LEGOLAND) top out around $30–40 per person.
